@Ryuran : it's not that hard if you follow the guides. And have good understanding of the mechanics. There's quite a bit of RNG early on, meaning you gotta save/reload and shit. I highly recommend trying to get a high score in your first playthrough, which unlocks good stuff in NG+ (End-game score passive on any commander that you can afford to = +2). Items, mostly. Some of the items are pretty imba to have at the start and make some fights pretty much soloable by any good commander. Also, stats are more important than troop size. Troop size only gives marginal benefits, which tops at 2k troop size. (Also happens to be max upkeep for a given unit)
After that, I usually get the Dokuganryuu family bonus, and attempt to survive the Takeda blitz with them. Leaving mostly Shimazu alive left so you can capture them in random battle with 'em. Once you do that, it's pretty easy. ;D You can just clear the other routes for bonus score (more NG+ options). The game gets notably harder when you try to clear it with more than 1-star difficulty (just as a point of reference, normal game is no star...) but you get more score and thus more NG+ options by managing to clear the game at that difficulty while clearing objectives that add to score. Anyway, it's kinda complicated, but a rather fun game. ^^ I think I've replayed it two or three times overall.
