That newspaper seems rather rough by the edges. This is black and white so it's impossible to say but if it's all yellow and ready to fall apart, and if the other stuff she found all seems worn down, there's a slight possibility we're in a world in the aftermath of an alien monster invasion. Think of it like finding the Statue of Liberty in Planet of the Apes kind of thing...

This likely means they ARE on earth, rather than some other world, foreign to all of them, or the world of the elf/demon/dragon.
But how can the magic people invade when they have no to little magic on our world? :thonk:
Most likely all the armies fighting in the other world got teleported, earthlings got caught up in the battle and called it an "invasion".
Tho the generic term "mystical creatures" could also mean just monsters like the slime from first chapter, and the girls here are the only humanoids teleported (due to high mana?) :thonk:

I remember that game!
Never got the last ending. The rhythm game beat me. No idea where my save file would be to try again.

Anyways, my first thought when Drakengard is brought up is the comic Oddman 11 (love this author). There is a brick joke (set up with long delay before callback - forget who coined it, Mitch Hedberg?) where a girl mentions she lost her virginity to her boyfriend after he beat the final ending. Later, the class finds out which guy was her boyfriend, and the class all points at him yelling, "Drakengard!"
