To be fair, he's a genius at fighting and strategery. Looking for a war hero that was called differently from him is right outside his wheelhouse. Besides like 5 people, he assumes everyone thinks he's dead

But he also seems to have an intricate knowledge of how the nobility works and thinks. It's why I just can't buy that he hasn't realised, I could get if initially he didn't but then tohught about who he was looking for and was like "Hey wait this lines up with my family".

if you begin with that their is many other thing that is one way irl but will not happend in manga, for many reason
