Thanks for the detailed explanation why he chose to reincarnated for better crest type he had. But to think that when he reincarnated and get 4th crest but the world itself was going backward was something that he cant predicted at all.
It looks like the system itself was purposely changed by someone who is extremely powerful to make anyone proud on trash crest but in reality its nowhere strong from his previous life at all.

After the world suffered from basically a nuclear scale doomsday, it's explained when he meets again with Iris, that being one part of the explanation for why the technology went backward, while the other being that the demons have for that time between the magic (nuclear) global disaster and the main story, interfering by purposely spreading false information about magic (the chanted one being better when it isn't) and by saying which crest is best for the wrong purposes (saying the first crest is the best one for combat when it isn't (because most of everyone who has it wouldn't have the power to defeat them) while saying the fourth one is the worse one (because it's the best crest for demon hunting))
