This is what happens when they spend too much time saying "oh, but it's certainly not like that"--it really isn't like that because it's axed before it actually gets to be like that.
Otherwise this was mildly cute, but I feel that there are plenty of other slice of life 4koma that just do it better. None of the characters in this were really that engaging and the scenarios didn't really deliver more than mild chuckle level humor. So, I can see why this didn't survive longer. Since it's unclear if they ever would have committed to actual romance, it doesn't feel like too great a loss. But, it didn't have major flaws either, so I also have nothing against it.
