I dunno man, Eiji's reaction kinda disappointed me. He feels more "willfully ignorant" than "dense" from that, and I'm not sure I like it.
Then again, and I dunno if this is a longshot, but author could be setting up for some character development. He started off as oblivious and immature, then he became subconsciously aware of his feelings, and is now trying to hide from them.
It'd be really cool if the author starts to give Eiji moments of emotional self-awareness as the chapters go on from now, because it'd truly be some solid character development. I suppose I'll just have to keep on reading.
