Poor Lucas. I like how the morality of decisions by individual characters in this series - Coura is a psycho, that's for sure - takes a backseat to the larger issues at hand in a state of war.
Considering that they're fighting against an enemy that practises regular human sacrifice, I can understand whistle-head for weighing whether Rami under his control are more valuable alive, or should be transformed into tools to aid in the battle. But just like Lucas, I'm disgusted by the cold blood in which these decisions are pursued, and I think Udo is right: it's allowing us to become numb that we should avoid, but it's inevitable the longer one gets mired in war.
I also like that people remark to Lucas that his own actions as a general involve the deliberate use of troops as fodder.
I have some hope Coura won't become an antagonist, even if strictly speaking, she's definitely a villain. And she won't be able to complain if at some point Lucas decides to sacrifice her. He is their leader, after all. To further complicate things, Coura has saved Lucas more than once. The dilemmas of war…
