Alright mfs I'm 3 months late to the argument but whatever.

Firstly, 304 stainless steel has inferior corrosion resistance to 316 stainless steel. For comparison, even in seawater (which is much harsher than an inland environment), 304SS needs 145 years for 1mm of penetration while 316SS needs 260 years. <https://bssa.org.uk/bssa_articles/technical-library-pitting-corrosion-pre-numbers/>

Secondly, in this translation at least, she said "stainless metal" which could mean any metal, not just steel. Grade 5 titanium has even higher corrosion resistance than 316. If we're also comparing titanium under typical seawater, it straight up does not corrode. You'll start to see corrosion if your seawater is >500F. <https://www.azom.com/article.aspx?ArticleID=1226>

Lastly, the source that says '304 is sometimes referred to as “marine grade”' is straight up wrong. Nobody says that. Even if you google "marine grade stainless steel", 316 pops up.

sorry to cut the arguments in half but she doesnt say stainless nor steel in any shape or form, she just says something along the lines of "However, even though the walls of this ruin are made of some kind of metal, they aren't rusty."(しかしこの遣跡の壁はなんらかの金属でできているのに錆びてもいない) the last translator just translated it wrong.

fully (with all that says in that panel) would be something like "Hmm... the tank abandoned in the Grace Kingdom was clearly deteriorating due to age, However, even though the walls of this ruin are made of some kind of metal, they aren't rusty."
or
"The tank abandoned in the Grace Kindom had clearly rotted away due to age, but the walls of this ruin were made of some kind of metal, and they don't rust."
(うーん...グレイス王国に放置されている戦車は明らかに経年劣化で朽ちていたしかしこの遣跡の壁はなんらかの金属でできているのに錆びてもいない)

both the full and the cut sentences can be worded differently but the meaning is still the same, even though the tank decayed, rotted, etc. from age these walls are made of some kind of metal and they dont rust unlike the tank, so she says why they didnt use that metal for it in next panel

I guess it's kinda late to ask this but did you drop this for good? Your TL was always such high quality and I appreciated that, the new TL is dogshit.

Okay, I can't hold it in anymore.

I wanted to add that simply coating a metal that is capable of corroding in another metal has historically been used to prevent corrosion. Being an advanced sci-fi facility, it makes sense that they might want to just coat their cheap steel walls with a layer of titanium or gundarium, or whatever material Russel's dress is made of.
