"Impure background," ptui. It takes way too much effort to untrain that kind of nonsense; good thing he's not the main love interest!

I mean, she is upset about how he didn't hear her out. But she is an idiot...

Sure, I guess he could of attempted to sympathize but come on. She got too drunk at a bar and did something irreversible. In many cultures divorcee's are scrutinized and her plan clearly wasn't thinking ahead any more than 2 weeks into the future. In fact if I had feelings for her I would be upset of how impossibly short-sighted she was, any thoughts of possible marriage would become more difficult to imagine. She said yes to a date knowing the context of her situation which I would view as a breach of trust as well.

Though please don't get me wrong, he is presented as a massive tool. His speech is so possessive and he acts like his input is the only one that matters. Really needs a reality check, I could see him becoming spiteful and gossiping when the FL rejects his advances in the future.

@HopeHope118 Yesss, I'm glad you liked the "yeet" inclusion. I was looking for an excuse to add that.

@dudewithmagic Nice comment, I agree. If this story were real life, getting married while drunk as hell is stupid. Divorce isn't illegal in Japan, but certainly isn't as socially sactioned as it is in some other countries like the U.S. You also make good points re: accepting the date and his possessive language.

I can understand someone being shocked that a person they like was so stupid that they married someone while being drunk, but the way the coworker spoke to her was so wrong.

He got angry at her like he was a father scolding their daughter rather than someone he would consider as a partner. And the ‘impure background’ comment solidified my dislike of him and any future relationship he wants to have with her
