Holy Hell, Seventh/Sevens finally got a manga adaptation! It's almost a decade-old now at this point. It's more of a coming of age story with some unique flair on how it handles some overused (at this point, but back then it was kinda new) tropes like RPG-esque level ups (You'll soon know Mr. Lyle).

Anyways, it's gonna look generic nowadays but this is one of the earlier stories of using the "Banished from family" trope.

The WN is a 7/10 for me (pun intented) due to a lot of cut out and canceled plot lines (The Numbered Witches and The Labyrinth plot lines).

Being honest, i liked sevens much more before ending.

But i said something, if you dont enjoy the ancestors banther, dont bother with this series.

The live ancestor comentary covers for this series absolutely horible character development, atrocious romance, and token harem members.

The ancestors continue getting purified, the heroines are treated atrociously and follow lyle just for the sake of stopping his possesed little sister and the series gets covered with a layer of tragedy where lyle just gets involved with women to further his political goals, and the awful romance that goes nowhere end up in the most misserable way posible

The romance isn't amazing I'll agree but I actually really like the main party characters especially the ancesters they're fun. That being said the Light novel kinda doesn't get anywhere near as bad as things get in the web novel, I cant really imagine things ending as bad if the series continues to it's ending. Even the web novel wasn't that bad tbh

Honestly Lyle just likes to complain and pretend like he's having a hard time and got a bad end

But the writer ended up writing an extra interlude to clear things up with fans who kept writing in about how worried they were over Lyle and how he seemed to constantly be depressed in all the post epilogue extra content

It's not nearly as miserable or tragic as lyle wants people to believe, he just likes to complain

Correct me if I'm wrong but is mc often sulking and crying throughout the novel? I wanted to see if mc grows and just straight up becomes a someone powerful enough to handle his business but it's hard to enjoy if he grovels in his exaggerated misery

He's not that type of protagonist and none of that is reflective of his personality in the main story. It's played of as a gag in the web novels epilogue taking place years later. he only likes to vent to other people about his harem problems. The author even writes crossovers where his other harem protags meet up to vent their grievances and Marie from MobOtome joins in too.
Volume 1 is literally the mc at his lowest point and the bandit subjugation is the end of that since he never cries, grovels or sulks in misery again.

Everyone is writing reviews on this manga based on a novel they read 10 years ago, this manga feels bad to read. It's just pathetic wimp tragically gets kicked out of his family, and goes on to be a pathetic dense idiot for 13 chapters.

I should have read the comments before starting since the premise looked interresting but i'm on chapted 7 and he got an heart attack because his gf earned more money than him. I could understand if he was just desapointed because of the lie but not the point of running away to escape his reality. Honestly what did he expect, she was the one who got them this far since the beggining of their short adventure and he still act shocked when she does something better than him.
Dude got beaten on verge of death by his little sister, dehowned, bashined from his family, fed and treated by an old man who could die at any moment(also took him his lifetime economy btw), his ex fiancée give up everyting(literally) she had to be with him and you say that he still has this much pride left ? How can you write such pathetic mc AND HOW IS THIS SHIT GOT ALMOST 8/10 ?
I don't mind spoiler so if someone had the courage to read this manga or its source tell me his personality improves or he stay like that the whole story ?
Just to know if i should avoid this author or not.

I've read the light novel up to volume 5 so far. Honestly it's just a really solid coming of age/zero to hero story with fun characters and an interesting premise of the MC IRL streaming to his ancestors which in my oppinion become the best part. For lack of a better word it has "heart" and actually got me to feel something in the upcoming arc.
I'd imagine the biggest hurdles for entry in this series however are Lyle's uselessness and emotional turmoil along with the ancestors harassment through the entire first arc. Normally banished from X stories go for immediate gratification but this keeps kicking the MC and showing embarrassing pathetic sides of him for a while. That makes the contrast stronger as you see him develop and take charge of his life and the ancestors shine as a guiding light with fun commentary and advice.
Personally I don't mind seeing a character fumble around and suffer at rock bottom but I get it if that's not your cup of tea in this genre of fantasy.
I have no idea how this series kept an 8/10 through its "worst part" though maybe it's the mangaka art or the authors good will from his other stories? Mob otome and Evil Lord of an Intergalactic empire are both good and popular?

For what it's worth chapter 7 is pretty much his lowest point in the whole story. ch9 is his first fight and ch12 is the start of his fight against bandits along with gaining confidence and ch14 is the climax he just keeps improving from there.
