@ScarletLouse The educational portion of this manga still doesn't make sense considering it's an ecchi seinen and not a female-targeted title on any shoujo or josei store. With the same logic, the author could publish BL under the guise of male / gay sex education in a female magazine, lol. The more superficial "Araburu Kisetsu no Otomedomo yo" managed to handle these topics much better, even though Araburu was also being published in the magazine for the "wrong" audience. It seems that the author herself realized this at some point, as the next two volumes began to address more gender-neutral topics.

But returning to the topic of sex in general, you yourself answered your own question. Japan is obsessed with sex and sexuality, not least because of the conservatism of Japanese culture. Compare the Victorian era with its simultaneously intense interest in sexuality.
