MY GOAT LIVES!!!!!!!!!!! I KNEW ITTTTTTTTTTTT
seeing the little panel of maryrose and rosemary and then just going through each page out of pure hype that they come back. Last page was a BANGER
Finally, we delve into the perspective of the "innocent" shadows, those with no idea they actually killed a real human. This makes me wonder, what if after the unification they met with the family of the living dolls they had taken?
LOL, kind of! For those who missed it, Anthony deduced how Maryrose/Rosemary would escape in Chapter 79 (Vol. 7, see also the extras for this volume, which include a diagram of how the escape worked):
Earlier in the story, here was a seemingly throw-away scene in which Kate saved Emilyco from a nasty fall by producing a soot cushion for Emilyco to fall onto. The Vol 7 extras show a diagram of where Anthony, working with Kate, had placed a large amount of Kate's soot on a large soot-pipe beneath the Hall of Glory, from which Maryrose could produce the gigantic "ghost" used in her escape attempt, until Edward disrupted the escape, leading to Maryrose/Rosemary's "fatal" plunge from the damaged wall of the Hall of Glory in a final act of defiance.
Anthony: "You [Kate] desperately tried to think of a way for Maryrose and Rosemary to escape! Since the soot in the air will become elastic like a cushion when Kate uses her power, if she uses the ghost that fell before [Rosemary/Maryrose] to brace the impact, then there is a high chance that they will survive. Of course, that's just a guess, but considering what the ghosts are capable of, it's quite a good one. As to how everything turned out [for Rosemary/Maryrose] in the end, though, I have no idea."
Those who noticed the setup have been waiting for over 180 chapters for the pay-off!
There've also been some subtle hints from pretty early in the story that Edward might not be a complete villain, just misguided, and painted into a difficult corner to escape from by the trap that is the Shadows House - in fact, it's kind of a running theme to the story, that none of the characters are entirely who they seem to be when we first meet them, and characters who start the story as villains usually reveal a more complicated side later in the story - there've been only a few "villains" who haven't yet revealed a more sympathetic side, mostly from the adults' wing, and even the adults keep us guessing! (Anthony seems to be one of the few unambiguously villainous characters so far.)
