@hgpnguyen @fennec If what Shaun said about John not having any memory until Shaun came along is true, then I think it's pretty weird how Kate has a treasured doll to the point she was mad at Emilyko for messing/moving the doll. The doll itself was pretty curious too, it was a completely black, shadow-like doll unlike other dolls in Kate's room. The doll didn't come up in recent chapters anymore though.

It feels like Kate has different starting timeline, and in this chapter it was mentioned that the shadows might not be the same age as the living dolls. Could Kate be much older than she's supposed to, or maybe she was a "recycled" shadow?

I suspecting original host of Kate with maybe her name katerine was someone who know emily far before story start like sibling or maybe twin

I agree with someone below who said human need to be a blank state for unification process because the shadow already completed 100% mimicking the human behavior, thought, and personality so they will heavily brainwash the human before merging. So a merged shadow actually not much different cause shadow and human basically one entity being.

But I guess it will be dangerous for Kate too if she lives independently from her human in case unification process is a must or shadow will eventually die if they don't merge. That's shown in previous chapter (in chapter where belles are introduced) because some pairs also get invited into Grand father's building although they are not a star-bearers, I guess older shadow will go into unification and many will fail and die so that's why only 3 adults along with Edward are left in his generation
