I really like that Kate shares so many of our questions, and has a reasonably good head on her shoulders. But why does she even care about the children? Are shadows always born with a conscience, or do they pick that up from the humans they mimic? Why did Kate turn out so differently from Emily? Where do all the adult shadows go? Is Kate really the first shadow to rebel? I have a hard time believing that this has never happened before.

The fact that Edward is having such difficulty removing Kate is fascinating. His hands are pretty well tied by the system of weeding out children, apparently. Man this series is great. Thanks for translating.
