Spiking the drink is fucked up but the lady killed mc like 3 times because she was green with envy.

She got addicted to paying for love and approval and then when it was taken away from her she decided to kill the person she envied for being loved and approved of.

The fact that mc didn't go the I'll just have to kill her first route is proof that mc is becoming an okayer person. Not great, but okay enough for now. Spiking the drink was a form of life insurance for the mc.

True true. I just wanted to rationalize why she would choose to spike the gal's drink. I assume at this point she knows it's wrong and knows killing will get her nowhere like you aptly pointed out, but she's so desperate to get emile to stop killing her that she commit a serious crime. Spiking someone's drink is sickening behavior but mc is so scared that she did it anyway. It's an awful position to be in where your only way to guarantee your survival is to commit a terrible crime
