Thank you for the chapter! I continue to enjoy this series!

Remember the village was being raided by raging animals, and the demon himself explains he wouldn't have shown up hadn't the attack been stopped. So it's reasonable that the MC didn't know about the source of the attacks, I think.

I prefer Tina-nee. Why? Because it is simpler than writing big sis Tina every time.

When it comes to honorifics, I'll always advocate for leaving things as close to the original text as possible (whether it's -nee, or -chan, or -sama, etc.). Once you start to learn the meaning and significance of each honorific, it becomes a fast way to understand the relationship between characters that can sometimes get lost in translation, without resorting to clunky and unnatural English alternatives. It may be a bit harder for new readers (of manga in general) to grasp right of the bat, but if they aren't willing to actually learn something about a foreign culture, they shouldn't have gotten into it in the first place.

@lucianone damn your right traps wouldve been brilliant. I mean you know a great way to build endurance and muscles? Digging a shit ton of holes. A great trap for swarms of mindless or near mindless monster? A shit ton of holes.

I'm fine with whatever you choose to tl it as, honestly.

@katanon
my understanding was that because the monsters just came out and killed everyone with no warning, the demon had no reason to show himself. Because he never showed himself (since mission was accomplished by the monsters) eric never knew demons were even involved.

@Oculunus @lucianone
i'm not a fan of the believe in me who believes in you schtick, but in this case since magic actually functions better with confidence, i'm giving it a pass

Thanks for the chapter!
And please @katanon, use the honorifics, i think Tina-nee would be a good choice.
Keeping those, It also keeps the charm that a lot mangas have.

Maybe I'm setting the bar too high, but I hope that if the relationship between Tina and Eric is going to be Sister and Brother, they stick to their guns and don't do three years of will-they-won't-they. The brother and sister duo can be an exceptionally awesome character dynamic in its own right.

Well, yes, but actually no. The coincidence is that you are good at magic and "luckily" got a chance to use it on his dad before being killed. Him training you for combat was however not, as that is likely how he was trained.

First off in a life or death situation one never attempts to connect any dots, they just go and solve the problem. Second off, there's no evidence that this isn't a commonplace occurrence in his first life post his village invasion. There might not be any proof either, but an authors full backstory is typically never written because otherwise it'd be a book and not a manga.
Order of events: I survived up to- oh i'm dead. But now i'm back! And I have years of experience on the battlefield. Maybe I can change things
A year of thinking later: Well, shit. I have no political power around here, and anything I say would be put off as the ramblings of a madman if I try too hard. And even if I demonstrate magic powers that I somehow learned myself, at the age of 5 no less, to everyone, what's the chances that they kill me thinking i'm the demon i'm talking about and i'm tricking everyone? Not high, but not low. Thus I only use magic to those I trust. The key thing everyone tries to ignore whenever these 'share your magic damn it' situations comes up is that, magic is fucking magic. Magic is magic because not everyone can use it and it's not developed to the point where it's technology. So if a 5 y/o came up to and said "Daddy, i learned how to shoot fireballs out of my fingers and I destroyed the tree over there!" right now we might go "oh! nice! magic!" but in a medieval setting? like wtf?
Lastly, the information he had to work with is monsters came in and killed everyone. Thus, solve that problem. You're right, there was evidence that demons can and do know how to control monsters. But that's not a 1 - 1 connection if on the condition that it was in fact commonplace after that first invasion and the hell he lived in. And do we know any of these things? nope.

It IS a book. A light novel, but still. Novel authors tend to plan these things out pretty far in advance.

@wanfai I agree. It’s easy to say someone can do this and that to fix the problem. But people rarely ever think of the possible flaws in their plans, just the best outcome.

Tina-nee is a good compromise i think, still keeps the name, they are close, and that he thinks of her has an older sister, ticks all the boxes.
thanks for the translation.

@katanon sure sure he knew that the village was occupied by demons to serve as a front for invasion. but if we're talking about past eric, a young teen with hardly any real world experience outside of his village, he probably never put it together that the demons were connected to the monster wave. he probably didn't find out until much later that his ravaged home village served as a rally point for demons and maybe just thought, "well it's an unoccupied area near the border" maybe the light/web novel had more detail that didn't make it into the manga

@raos044 well you're not wrong, in fact you're right. That said when I said backstory in my head I was thinking about the dictionary series from the Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere series, where the author to justify all of her creative decisions wrote an entire encyclopedia and more.

At translator ending page:
Didn't he just knew that his entire village was massacred by a group of demons and "who" never really mattered?
