Well gym memberships aren't really for everyone, especially if you lack will power in finding ways to exercise on the daily.
I've tried before to do a routine, and to some success where I had more stamina to do more things, but I noticed there was a point where I couldn't overcome certain hurdles (I was trying to build muscle cuz I was skinny af)
After going to a gym, I found a trainer who helped me fix certain bad habits I had in terms of how I was exercising and after fixing them, not only did I feel significantly stronger, it also helped boost self-confidence in myself for achieving something.
So yeah you're right that no one really needs a gym to do exercise, but when you have others supporting you and teaching right techniques I learned it really boosts how you want to maintain a healthier lifestyle. (But maybe if you go for just a treadmill, maybe that's where you waste your money since you're not using the other amenities)
