I actually like how her female coworkers support her by refusing to go back to the bar, since they want to actually be considerate of her sanctuary, out of concern for her.

It is actually rather wholesome, since it seems they were finally able to see her true side and were even somewhat smitten by her after being influenced by her S&M skills. Considering they were just shit talking her behind her back when they didn't know anything about her, it's nice to see them respect her more after learning about this hidden side of her, and from the looks of things it seems like they'll keep things under wraps and prevent other coworkers from finding out about her job.

What I dont like about femdom in romance stories is that it seems like, just like in regular romance stories, it's all up to the man to always worry about doing right by the woman. In this case, too, while not as toxic as other stories, it feels like she is leaning into that "unreasonableness" that you so often see with female leads while combining it with SM, which makes it feel abusive. I feel like they are going for a romance story here, but the foundation feels off and imbalanced.

Contrast this with something like Nana to Kaoru and you have the dom (Kaoru) constantly worry about doing right by Nana. Making sure that he isnt overstepping any boundaries, hurting her physically or mentally. Female dommes in romance stories seem to absolutely never even have a singular thought like that cross their minds.

IMO, sure she can "berate" him for breaking that rule as part of their play, but is should strictly be part of the play. She cant dictate his life outside of that. She knows that this is new for him and she knows that there might be feelings involved. These parasocial dominatrix relationships are already toxic to begin with and she is not really dispelling that notion here.

I guess my point is just, femdom bdsm in romance manga just sucks. The woman is always catered and never has to worry about her abusing her power in that dynamic. A reflection of romance stories in general, where the man is usually held responsible for making things right in the relationship, but with the added ickiness that is a power exchange dynamic where the man is effectively powerless.

Good bdsm romance involves a healthy balance, as well as a healthy dynamic outside of the bdsm scenes. Alas, I dont think I will ever find a femdom manga that breaks this norm.
