The manga is simply an adaptation of LN, the anime kinda reimagined LN in collaboration with the original author.

What is the difference?

basically there isn’t this “holding them hostage to figure out where the keys are” scenario, the large team just finds the keys and takes them. honestly thinking about it more, this version of events might end up making slightly more sense overall. Yuki then tries to “get to the entrance before the other team gets the keys there,” and it’s hard to understand as to why it would take so long for the keys to get there. they’re supposed to be pretty heavy, I think, but it doesn’t fully come across. so maybe that’s why they changed it?

or maybe they changed it because of all the scenes in that version that are happening in the low-vis foggy area. works in text form but maybe less so in a visual medium
