@matcap i think you misunderstand the story, chika is concerned abt hirota missing, that's why she asked souichi. Because at that time the only one that knew about hirota strange behavior only him. And in ch 17 we know that chika is actually miwako's puppet. so when chika blurted out 'i like you' to souichi we could assume it could be miwako's doing.

I think both osamu and hirota is main character in this story (both either protagonist and deuteragonist) because author keep changing focus between them. So all you said abt 'hijacking the story from MC' is what the author intended to do, probably for future chapter.

Nah, I disagree. Go back and look at chap 17. If you want to see what Chika looks like when Miwako is controlling her just look at the very beginning of the chapter. It was so obvious that even Souichi noticed it.

After she passes out, and for the rest of the chapter, it appears that Chika is the one in control. Because remember, Souichi already demonstrated the ability to tell the difference between the two. So if Souichi doesn't think that Chika is being controlled by Miwako for the rest of the chapter, why should we?

Chika just comes off as a wish washy, impulsive, teenage girl. She heard a sad story and her 'shoujo instincts' kicked in. She never asked about Hirota again after hearing that story. Instead, she prioritzed Souichi's feelings over confirming the safety of her boyfriend.

In a better written story the idea of Chika becoming a monster would come off more surprising and tragic, but here you can't really feel much regarding that revelation. Also i know hes a asshole, but Soichi still comes off as a more interesting and likable character than the MC even though the whole plot is his fault

It's true. Tachibana seems more 3-dimensional than our mc, but I guess that's just the fate of a "shounen" mc.
