Nah, there are people actually like this. If your work or hobbies involve interacting with other people, you'll unfortunately eventually run into this type of psycho. Their ego is more important than whatever their practical goals are. This guy doesn't just want the S rank, he wants it on terms that he dictates because it's important that he keeps "control" over the situation.

I can kinda understand... sure it's great to be an S rank, but with how many witnesses were there for the conversation you just know that rumors would spread like wildfire immediately and he'd just be known as "the guy that had S rank handed to him". Like even though he clearly earned the right to S rank himself with his magic stone, people would just focus on the part that he didn't actually earn the rank himself because the other guy quit. And that stain could stick to him his entire career...

Or at least that's what thunder guy thinks would happen, which is why he'd be so offended by MC being completely uninterested. It's not just about having the S rank, it's about winning/earning the S rank.

Stupid test. Stupid guild.

First, they arbitrarily decided to promote the MC. Then, because of public image, they decided to make it a test for everybody instead. With only a single individual getting the promotion, despite multiple ones showing S-rank achievement. Then, they don't accept the very obvious outcome of Yuuri declining the promotion in favor of the other achiever, because he never wanted the rank-up to begin with.

The guild had a moment where they seemed vaguely competent, but they ruined it all with setting up this "competition", and they did even worse with the result. I'm tired of this display of buffoonery.
