Literally about to comment the exact same thing. It's happened a few other times too that he says 3 lives but also talks about Japan.
Honestly kinda wish his Japan life wasn't a thing. It's not like it adds anything to the story, he's not using the knowledge of the 21st century to make his midevil life better
