I read this chapter multiple times cos I forgot who is who. So from my understanding the story was like this the employer (Tsubaki Kanbara and Fujiko Takasogo) are supposedly monsters that use human bodies as host to breed bugs that eat human bodies. Before the MC come into the picture they hired 3 caregivers Hikita (who got attacked last chapter and is probably dead), Kumakawa (the cook who help MC escape) and Kiwako (the current corpse) to care for Komako Sanada (the previous corpse). Hikita was the first to get thralled to be obedient servant of the employer. Kiwako then also got thralled after a while.

After a while Komako Sanada's body can't be used as host anymore, so Kiwako was chosen as the next corpse. After this MC arrive at the mansion as new hire. It is still questionable if Kumakawa is an actual ally because she seems not thralled but hasn't tried to escape. Kumakawa also told MC wasn't supposed to be here, so she seems to know more than she has told the MC.

She's grown so much!! I'm proud of her for standing up and wanting to face the battle!

Thanks!

The first victim was the husband so I wonder if he's not an "egg" but some half monster/human

My question is why wouldnt they make the caregivers thralls as soon as theyre employed and brought to the mansion to begin with?
Limitations to their powers?
Also need to explore why they kept Hiroto-kun around even if he cant talk; emergency rations maybe

Ok but, do they know anything else about this supposed monster? We know that the mutated moving corpse must hate sunlight but maybe it was just to preserve it better? They need to find a way to fuck them up and avoid whatever the fuck they did to the hatchet guy to drive him feral.
And... one of them is "pregnant"... there's more eggs coming that will need another corpse :worry:

Lol no, Hiroto-kun was already there before the mom became a "corpse" and the "children/eggs" are not Kiwako's - they're being "planted" by the monsters to their human hosts. Kiwako and her family is just a victim of Hidamari.

It's a bit hard to connect the dots as the manga didn't go into so much detail as much as the novel did. I'll see if future chapters will explain this further. If not, I can provide those novel details that this manga may have skipped/changed.

Kinda disappointed because up until this chapter there was enough ambiguity to take this in any direction:

- supernatural(with the Oni woman story)
- supermedical(very specific health condition that seems supernatural but isn't - honestly that was my bet)
- it's all a big coincidence and mostly in heroine's head

Now though...

It was insanely good at keeping up the foreboding atmosphere of dread. It's just that when you do that...our minds wander and go crazy with guesses as expectations get higher.

The explanation was foreshadowed and clearly not just pulled out of the author's ass but it just couldn't live up to it especially if it was delivered to us in a single confession tape. It might've worked better if the discoveries also had some build-up to it with the MC slowly finding the pieces but the manga adaptation just full sent it over the span of two chapters.

I did think previously that Kumakawa was actually trying to help Kuritani, but I did not expect Kumakawa to just reveal everything in one go like that lol. That means the Kiwako whose card was found by Kuritani was just another innocent victim even though she's now in giant ghoul form. Maybe the government secretly knew about all this shit, and Kumakawa is actually a government infiltrator sent to collect enough evidence before the government decides to wage war on Hidamari?

Since Spira mentioned the novel, now I'm curious as to where one should go to find it...

i think there was an amazon review for it but idk if you can buy it digitally/internationally, other than some amateur isekai lns, idk how common a novel like this would be to translate, tho someone did translate some stuff from the guy that does the Henna Ie/na E series
