Because with anime format, a lot of the grotesque detail usually missing or toned down.

Well grieving during a miscarriage might cloud one’s mind but the man at the end turning out into being some delusion might be a bit much tho even tho it didn’t switch POVs or anything that one supermarket lady did talk about missing ppl and the mountains being the opposite way which is probably significant

So... all the stuff about missing couple and the oni shrine led me to think that thry're gonna go the supernatural royte a bit but then they really jumpscared us with a naked intruder. Heck, in thay page with the multipanel of the kitchen I had to look again and again cause all of a sudden there's this guy near the fridge and Akane seems like she didn't realize he's there, making me think maybe he's a ghost. But no... come next page he's in your face, Akane just didn't realize he was there.

well i assume her miscarriage led to her 'mental health issues' that she brought up with the president/Hiwako's daughter(?), tho while i assume male nurses are also not as common in JP, I half expect it to be an occult /body horror thing where one's sacrificed to maybe 'give birth' lol, if not Hiwako taking over the body of a younger vessel, like Flemeth from Dragon Age if you're familiar with that game series)

(and, the first chapter is titled "contracture" (potentially 'birth/labor contractions'?), hmm...)
