It looked well made, but he mentioned being spicy, or maybe sweet. So her only mistake seems to be in regards to seasoning and how much and what kind to use.
My own mother does this kind of mistake sometimes when she's absent-minded or stressed out.

Too much seasoning can be bad (way worse than not enough/none), but it's something you can adjust, so it shouldn't be too difficult for her to make it better next time.
And it's cute that she tried at all.
It might have been even more fun though if he had attempted to make something for her.
