We’re gonna find out that this was all a misdirection and that they probably didn’t try to kill him. He likely freaked out over all the attention and ran away (like most harem manga male MCs do), and fell down the stairs or something.

Either that or they were all fighting over him, he tried to stop it and accidentally got pushed.

Something dumb like that with lots of lewd hijinks along the way to reveal just how brocon they actually were the whole time.

However It might have also been his female school friend.

But I think it's more likely that is just some strange misunderstanding, as I don't see anything having killing intent even if he did turn them down.
