@junaria MC was some super OP asshole in his past life, but the mark he was designated with limited him, so he reincarnated to be stronger in his next life, a bunch of time passed and now demons are stronger and everyone else is weaker, and now they're just going around fucking with demons, I guess.

So tldr party of adventurers deal with demons, not anything super unique of course.

I forget some bits but I'm sure visiting this pyramid is for the purpose of fucking with demons, too.

@Fari @junaria I don't that's exactly right. I think it was more like the MC wanted to play as the warrior class but sadly got stuck with the mage class. Because of that he learned as much as he could as the mage class in hopes of reincarnating as someone with the warrior class. Basically he liked hitting things with a sword more than shooting things with magic so he wanted to redistribute his stats and skills to be more specialized in that.

I still never get why the mc of these reincarnation stories are so opposed to their friends knowing their past. Like, who cares? I would accept it if the story has a legitimate reason like “I can’t let my old enemies found out about me before I’m strong enough” or something, but none of them do. The main reason I can think of for why authors do this is so they can be creepy around girls of their physical age without the girls being even more creeped out, but that makes it worse than before for the readers

That's the general gist, but more like he actually wanted to be a Spellsword but got stuck as an Enchanter.

It's all mages. He wanted close combat, but got crafting.

If I recall correctly the reason for that is given near the beginning of the story (I'm not sure if the manga version included it though). It was that if his identity was found out before he became strong enough to defend himself the demons would come to kill him.
That still doesn't explain why he doesn't tell his companions though, they seem trustworthy enough to keep the secret and I agree with you that he should just tell them about it.

@Sonicdude8 I mean, the MC definitely argued that it was 'strictly better' class, and cursed what he got stuck with, I remember that much. Talked about how it was like higher upper bounds or something like that.

Plus as someone else noted it was a matter of being a more like power based, close range deal, the peak of spellsword, where as before he was still sort of a spellsword but meant to be more of an enchanter or something. More versatile in some ways but not the same peaks.

It's not like he was ever trying to get away from magic, it's that he wanted stronger power magic with less range/versatility, but more specialization.
