Yeah, that guy . . . he's his own worst enemy. What is he thinking? Seems like he was fine as long as he was all . . . floaty, but he has no idea how to handle anything remotely solid.
On the one hand I think Shio is a twit for keeping Ran at arm's length, and on the other I support her if she just doesn't want to date at all. Either way, Ran deserves some communication about her feelings even the answer is "I don't know what I want out of life".
It's realistic at least. One person is trying hard but being patient, and the other person is being at best unresponsive and at worst gives the appearance of dating multiple people. The trying person will get worn out and move on, counter to what shojo manga will tell you, and honestly that's healthier than turning into a pining stalker.
