The premise is beautifully weird, but after a while the actual story and characters didn't really grab me and I dropped it. YMMV. I have been enjoying the only slightly less weird Vanilla Spider by the same mangaka though.

Wrote a review on this, here it is:

Technically, it's "just" a review for "the first series", but it applies to "both" of course since this series ran into some trouble and just ended up continuing again with a barely different title. I like this series a lot, and I wanted to write about it at length, so I did. I hope it can convince some that Chimoguri is worth a read.

The ending is sadly weak, but the journey is mostly fantastic.

Tbh... I loved this manga, prequel and all. The ending is kinda... meh, and not as good as the rest but I don't regret reading it.

Holy SHIT, all along throughout the first part I thought that this was some coming-of-age story. I really didn't expect it to be some sort of monster horror with dozens of girls getting eviscerated left and right.
