They call him "The Human"...
1. Because it will remind the reader "who's that?" if the characters often call each other by their species names. So the human is "Human".
2. They are respecting him, he is the human. The most important human.
3. Isn't the elf's name Erufuda? Isn't that a Japanification of "Elf"? If he's calling her "Elf" then surely he has no objection to being called "Human".
