I like that the story ended here in the manga, instead of having it continue. The main conflicts around Gideon's personal connections are resolved, and he has found his place on the edge of the world, outside of the influence of the "main story" as he wanted.

To continue the story, either his goal has to be lost (he has to go back to save the world), or the universe has to make this lazy town in the frontier a critical point of the story and have conflict seek him out. There is the question of what happens with the war against the demon king, but that's the point: they left that to others. They're no longer involved.

Potentially, they might be roped back in if the war takes a turn for the worse. It was mentioned at some point that they might have to fight to protect their peaceful lives in the future. But if they did, it would no longer be a fight for lofty ideals like "saving the world", or compelled by Ruti's Hero blessing. It would be their choice, to fight for what they care about, and that would make a big difference.

No, but I agree and totally ship them. To the current english translated volume nothing's explicitly happened there, they're still basically best friends and roommates. It remains to be seen whether anything will happen by the end.

So manga adapted 4 LN Volumes, while latest volume is 14 and confirmed to end with vol. 15

edit: i guess there is the anime too, but s2 skipped LN vol.6 and 7 and finished off with vol.10 ending, so it did vol.5, 8, 9 and end of 10, so yeah

The anime is really confusing to me. Like you can call the Manga marketing for the LN and that if you read it to this point even though it got canned you can pick up with the LN. The anime literally did "One, two, skip a few, and we're still not adapting to the end." 😂 That's just annoying. Also I can't believe that they did "six/seven" of all the ones they could skip.

this ending is just such a waste, like jesus christ. they could've just killed this mofo when they left, skipped 15 chapters of useless bs that ended with the same thing anyway and used the 15 chapters to make their relationship go anywhere. but hell, fucking after confessing is something rare at least.
