IMO the art did a decent job selling that fight, it looked like Red was putting everything he had into just parrying her normal attacks. Then Ruti sliced through the blade of that short sword like it was made of wood, sheesh. But thanks to that clever disarming technique by Red the danger is finally over.
Y'know what, my take on Red being able to withstand Ruti for a few minutes is because he isn't actually relying on his early stats blessing anymore. He's leveraging legitimate techniques gained from battle experience (not exp points, actual fighting experience).
It's like how a dude with the Carpenter blessing being able to cook well simply because they studied and practiced a lot. Y'know, like the way we develop skills in real life: through study, practice, training and experience. Blessings are basically a cheat anyway, allowing someone to be good at something without much effort. And also a curse as we're seeing with Ruti.
