>Didn't advance into the plot.
I'm replying to a seven-eight month comment and, like, 3 pages away but I'd just like to put down my two cents on plot advancement.
You're reading slice of life. A plot is rarity in this genre, let alone, advancement. If you expect a western style storytelling where Freytag's Pyramid is God, you're gonna have a bad time.
Eastern/Japanese writing on the other hand is produced more on "Kishotenketsu." It's not a bad style, just different, where the story is driven by the characters instead of the plot.
There's actually a lot more differences between Western and Eastern story telling. There's a video on YouTube by Literature Devil, who I personally found to explain quite well.
