Apparently it's a fan comic of after "The End of Evangelion",
Shinji goes insane and resets the universe, but things happen differently due to his role as "god".
He fucks Asuka, and completely abandons Rei both physically and emotionally, which causes her to commit suicide, then he finds her wind-chime impression and has a mental breakdown again..

The continuation (or a sequel) to this is called "Shin Seiki Evangelion - RE-TAKE ~After~".

How is this just as unhinged as end of evangelion
After reading it, I can say it has its weaknesses (mainly in the first and second volumes) but its strong points far surpass them. It's been a good ride (sometimes even literally) and the final volume was simply brilliant.
Some characters are not that developed/used as this manga relies heavily on Shinji and Asuka. Which I guess part of the fandom needed. There are sexual scenes that, sometimes, I feel that they were a bit forced. I could've just enjoyed them out of the story, as a pornographic series centred in less serious topics. Some of them though are pretty good. (As always, very male-centered).
I have also read that some people say this is better than EoE. I think that I liked EoE because is not the regular hero story. RETAKE makes Shinji a more traditional hero, and although it brings a more "satisfactory" closure to some fans, it is not embued with that magic and "realistic" feeling of finding light in the darkness that the original had. It's difficult to put into words but EoE is my favourite EVA product because its full of dispair and the protagonists live with that, which is kind of relatable to real existance somehow.
Having said that, RETAKE is a marvelous manga and I loved reading it. I could say that, in a way, it will stick with me as part of the "tradition" of re-reading Evangelion.
I really hope the best to its authors, they blessed the community with this gem and their work will live forever.
