He's a cursed outcast who lives with monsters, and a living, breathing disaster. Even if he freed all of the merchant's slaves, he wouldn't be able to do anything for them.
Even assuming they wouldn't be terrified of him and his maids, he wouldn't be able to shelter the slaves since his energy-draining curse would kill them, and releasing them into the wilderness with no support would just end up with them killed or enslaved again.

Any of his maids could escort them to the nearest settlement, and make the arrangements necessary for them there.

Its always the non-isekai manga with a protaganist who is from the same world that seem to actually be against slavery. I don't understand why isekai mangas are obsessed with having a slavery plotline/subplotline, but have their protagonist (who is from a world where slavery is universally agreed to be a bad thing), be completely okay with slavery in the new world. It's even more frustrating when the protag definitely has the strength/influence to either end slavery or not participate in it.
