Pretty much every JRPG ever. Jokes aside, being a hero, especially the non-greek variant, is pretty much the same as being a publicly owned slave given the moral obligation of the hero to serve the community.
Eh... sorry i don't have the energy to keep the debate went on longer. Don't make your own interpretation with your experience in reading all of that changes the critical thinking of what should be the realest truth. Hero is hero. It's a prestige title that should be respected by people whatever writing the author want it be. If there is some author that have a contrary idea, they better bring a more engaging plot instead of easier way to depict 'kingdom is bad, people is corrupt, hero should suffer'. Simple thinking like this is shallow and not implying anything to the reader. It would just imply the author didn't do his research in presenting his own terms in his own story

A prestigious slave is still a slave. Unless a hero can just drop the calling and still remain a hero, the hero is a slave to the calling. And in turn, a slave to society which he is obligated by the title of "hero" to bring back value to, be it treasure or be it service.

Furthermore, the idea that a "hero" is a prestigious title which should be respected kind of flies in the face of the notion of heroics which is in its core selfless sacrifice.

NGL, I don't think it's the king that has mandated that the "hero" be banished to eternal community service. While true there are many reasons the rulers of a nation wouldn't want the first generation hero to stick around after achieving their mission, here there is mention of religious mandates and divine dacrees. It honestly sounds like the gods f-ed something up, and are trying to course correct with this magical book of relationship quests.
I don't know why this is bothering me so much, especially when I've glossed over worse in actual translations, but it's "decree" not "dacree". Dacree reads to me like it'd be pronounced closer to daiquiri (pronounced "dak-er-ee").

"The first and only language I speak is Typo" is a fantastic line, and you should be proud of it.

I wouldn't be surprised if Harold was the only one taking the Hero's code of honor this strictly. Sure it's made him a great Hero, but it's isolated him. Others are probably more down to earth.

Ngl but I would definitely read a manga like that.

"I got Isekai'd as a Successor God of a Fantasy World But My Predecessor Messed Up, So Now I Have To Fix It But I Have No Idea What I'm Doing!"
Like, and isekai version of Kamisama kiss
