Most of the time when the Childhood Friend loses, its because they did nothing to express their feelings to the MC until they were already with someone else. Like, did they just assume that they were a 100% shoe-in for Love Interest so they didn't bother making a move? Not saying there hasn't been times where the CF made moves before hand, but most of the time they are passive until they realise they lost.

It's pretty telling that she didn't hear that he had gotten married. The state didn't announce it, there was no celebration, no grand setup of the "quest to save the world", or anything. It just underscores how little he is regarded by the kingdom. That's why when she finds out that it is a quest, she just assumes that it is something like the handyman requests he is given around town. Something for him to eventually finish and drop, because he didn't marry her for love, but as a request. She has no idea that the book is requesting the two of them to emotionally bond.

Of course, I assume they will beat this into the ground by showing how far he bends over backwards for humanity before the "world saving quest" has him eventually leave to the Demon Realm to rule as the new Demon Lord. Based on the description text of the series, I presume the quest book was written by his now wife.

I didn't think about that, it makes it all the more sad honestly, I hope that is another conscious decision by the author to use it as an hook for the story.

Quick summary is Shinzo Abe wanted the Japanese to have families and kids. Pretty sure he enacted policies that funded pro family anime and stuff like Spy X Family. Look up Shinzo Abe memes and you get the basic idea.

its so frustrating how ungrateful and how much thesw villagers take for granted the things he does for them. This is why heroes are stupid because if someone goes around doing everything for people they will never do anything for themselves.
