I love the usage of the double level straight-man. (Effectively Rick is the Straight Man to the Rest of his Party's absurdity because he still has a humanity to him beside his incredible power. While Angelica is the Straight Man to Rick plus the party. )
Without Angelica the story would either end up making Rick soft with his power like with many stories akin to this or it becomes pure absurdity power levels trying to one up the next.
The new black-haired Elf doesn't exactly fill the niche; given time and training she'd become very akin to Rick based on her willingness to embrace their insane training without question.
