I guess since he realized Angelica ACTUALLY couldn't win against him yet, he decided that showing what she'd do to him with her future strength would be enough.
in other, different things, only now I think about how sad her older brother is. Since it seems he does not only lack the noblesse that Angelica seems to have, even through the pride she had before, but also some sense of responsibility. After all, with how much he seems to care for his siblings, we didn't hear Angelica even mention him objecting to the marriage proposal or anything (though I guess chances are he just didn't hear anything about it since he's off to train himself more).
