it's actually kind of a headscratcher. he says 2 hours ago he committed suicide, so that has to be the spirit talking. but if he has no hatred towards how is he haunting her? the rule we established a few pages ago.

Nobody said the reason they're ghosts is because they hate her, they said they're haunting her because they hate her.

The girl actually not abused by her father, but just see it happen to her mother; while the boy abused by his family.
The girl turn into psycho, while the boy sacrifice himself blindly for a love he never get.
Thats a good short story.

I interpreted it as him actually killing himself.

I'm pretty sure it was him being murdered, here's how I drew that conclusion:

1. It was just told that Ai has tendencies to murder and enjoys taking pleasure from it; her mother said she'll use her own interests to control others. Which leads us to her manipulation of Aoi to kill him and his family, strictly for the pleasure.
2. Despite this manipulation, Aoi still feels the need to protect Ai (no matter how useless he may ultimately be); which is why he explains why he would want to kill himself.
3. If you look at the shot that focuses on his dying face, you can see tears and an almost betrayed expression.
