Deaf people can still make sounds and the degree of deafness can vary from person to person.

@Pnutz The original Japanese said he is deaf. You can see the first time he ordered, he had the same thing as the club owner, if he can hear it, he would've said something like: "me too", "same as you",... At best, if he isn't deaf, maybe his ear is not good, to the point we can call him deaf, as people with "legally blind".

However, deaf people commonly avoid speaking, since they can't regulate their volume and tone compared to someone that can hear themselves. Their voice is usually unmodulated and just plain weird to listen to

Also, I binged all 48 chapters in a single go, but then I looked at M-U, and it says there are at least 22 volumes (!) so far.
