Perfect release timing, I must say! I'd just binged up to chapter 31 when I looked at the series page again, & saw the next one had come out less than 10 minutes before. Also, this chapter was particularly nice, I liked seeing Maria-chan getting some of the confidence she needed.

@tickub i had to do this back when we were doing a food stand for the intramurals at my school and i just asked my dad if he can do it because he had to submit a stool sample to the hospital at around the same time anyway

also i was really uncomfy with doing it and i didnt wanna be the guy that held the class up because i was a pussy

Why? Because Japan still cares about sanitation. Unlike the U.S. where you assume that any meat that you buy is contaminated. IT WAS NOT ALWAYS THAT WAY. 40 years ago you could eat the beef from Jewel raw, without cooking. Since the food corporations bought the politicians to pretty much dismantle the FDA, they no loner have to keep tight standards, like Japan still does. And the Millennials wonder why we old folks say the country is sinking fast.

I have never experienced a harsher culture shock in all my life. Their schools collect their shit? This is "penis inspection day" on steroids. What does a stool sample have to do with food stalls? Just wash your hands man, it'll be fine! Just make sure people have their shots or something. WHAT THE FUCK. I've got like 7 tabs open trying to figure out why they would need to do this. I can barely even read this right now, I'm waiting for on of the kids to say "stop talking about pancakes I just carried a bag of my shit to school".

Bro do you not remember penis inspection day? It wasn't just a penis inspection, you also had to squat down and take the biggest shit you could in front of the gym teacher so he could make sure you were pooping healthily. You both had to take all of your clothes off so you wouldn't get poop on them. Every 3rd grade boy in America does this, he told me so.

Thank you for the chapter, as usual! This chapter gave me some insights of the strict standards the Japanese had, that's for sure. 😅

By the way, I studied in Japan for a while, and we (me and my friends) did a food stall twice or thrice, in my university annual fest and in a small international fest (?), yet I don't remember doing the same thing this comic describes or had a health inspector visiting us. I studied in Hokkaido 🤔 so maybe this stool inspection thingie is prefecture based? No idea tho 🤔

@artikandri Never been to Japan either, so I can't really say. Also, it's not like they ever talk about it during the culture festival arcs in anime/manga either. Maybe I messed up and 検便 doesn't mean stool test?

But @thrrnvwls did mention having to do something similar, so there seems to be precedent.

@red_bean_casserole @artikandri i went to a private school owned by dole food company so im not sure if other private schools do it but yeah they had to take it to a lab and everything its actually pretty gross but they wanted to make sure they were as close as possible to a zero percent risk of food contamination i guess
