well, i've never had pet cats , and while my dog didn't care for digging our backyard versus sunbathing, idk how 'deep' a cat would be wanting to dig unless they really liked the smell of human bones for some reason but if it's on top of a garden rather than some six feet deep hole in an abandoned lot, i feel like if the affair partner does upkeep/backyard work one day and wanting to plant more flowers, she might find it too lol

I think they'd have to be missing for a specific amount of years to be declared dead and then get the insurance so not rly worth it for anyone outside of the family to play the long game but i'd expect the mom to get some kinda part time job or at least the son doing something rather than just mooching off his family or wanting to go to college first
