Could be worse, she could have done the thing most other japanese fantasy manga protags do and buy only one slave, and then leave the others to suffer life in a cell, only torture and misery awaiting them.

While the generic MC-kun grooms his slave as a wife without a care in the world.

But in this case, I still would have preferred she just used her OP one shot magic to kill the slavers in the first place, instead of participitating in that market.

If the issue is that she can't make a public scene, then she could have just used her body control magic to make it look like one of the merchants went mad and started stabbing the other merchants.

I think buying one slave is still workable if the plan is to kill several buyers over the course of a few days. Eventually it becomes bad business to shop there, and that's when you either kill the main slaver or purchase the rest at a ridiculous discount and bait them to try and kill you.

Buying the slaves just funds the system and ensures theres incentive to enslave others. She needs to fight the system itself to do any meaningful change.

While I agree with you on the fact that their blessed ignorance is at peak while the rest are suffering, not everyone can afford to buy all slaves. Freeing one is still better than freeing none. Not even close to ideal, but better than nothing.

Without them, all these familiars would end up on the street, abandoned (not that it's much better for them this way), and possibly despised and ignored by everyone. Or worse, they could be hunted down and possibly killed like stray animals. If they're seen only as failures, there's no sympathy coming from the common folk.

While buying them all might feed the pockets of slavers on the short run, the only good solution is changing the overall view on slavery. Otherwise you're only taking them out of one bad situation and putting them in another. Abandoned or enslaved, there's little difference for them in my opinion.

While slavery may be the least bad option for an individual, this doesn't justify slavery, but indicates that action should be taken to provide other better options to individuals.

It's simple, slavery is bad. Releasing slaves (children on top of that) in a world where slaves are commonly mistreated with no help nor supervision is also bad. Good intentions, still bad.

It's like releasing illegally domesticated animals in the wild, they'll get killed within 24h if you don't make the effort to rehabilitate them.
