And damn...no evolution...MC power as a lightbulb was simply its natural enemy (really expected the shadow to change in MC, but if his understanding is correct hat can't happen).

His ability actually "kinda" evolved or go beyond it's limit..
His usual ability just make him shines a "little".. He does not glow and form that white orbs around his body.. but now he does have that..

Basically previously it's not circle.. it's just form around his body.. And now it's form a circle bigger than his body.. and kinda protect his whole body from that shadow dog..

You should try to watch the videos. It used simple enough dialogue that even my limited Japanese could understand it, and even if there're words you didn't understand often times you could pick it out from the context.

No, MC didn't develop a light barrier, he was simply shining as usual and the bubble was the reach of his -little- light.
We see the range that is a sphere because the living shadows reaches the limits of MC brightness.
I'm not saying MC power can't evolve, just that it didn't yet.
