I once read someone saying it was gross to wash your body with the bar of soap you use on your butt. I'm inclined to think it was engagement bait, but there were enough people agreeing in the comments that maybe some of them actually believed it.

A bar of soap can always be rinsed clean. That is the defining feature of soap. If your soap doesn't rinse away dirt and oil, it's not soap.

In the first place perception of what is gross or not is tied much more closely to social values than it is to actual scientific benchmarks for cleanliness, and a person can hold values on grossness that contradict their knowledge of what is clean or not.
