With the amount of liberty taken with the original material, I don't really see the point in using real history as a origin point.

For a story about a sniper with over 200 confirmed kills and possibly 500+, it's way too "shounen" and the kid who wants revenge feels so pointless.

I probably would have loved this if it had been more similar to Marginal Operation or Groundless, because as it is it feels just too goofy.

Nothing says Finland more than a kid with a spiky red anime hair, girl with blue hair and some tall amazonian woman with dark skin and piss yellow hair.

To clear things up for everyone, during the winter war, there was an actual guy (yes, guy) who killed 250 Soviet soldiers in one battle. He earned the nickname White Death.

His real name was really Simo Häyhä

So in all, I think this manga is trying to retell his tale and I respect it.
