I see that as an intentional character dynamic between Garen and Nemu, who in contrast uses as few words as she feels are needed.
Sidi's addition reminds me of Jack Skellington's first visit to Christmas Town -- all of these things are new, different, and exciting.

When you forget your Orange Charred Ring and have to make do with some Red Bug Pellets because the mage doesn't know Flash Sweat. Should have rolled into the water pots for extra fire resistance.

Depending on how "watery" and easily it flows you can sink partway in, though that would end up causing a steam explosion after your leg sinks in enough to trap air/water under the lava surface.I think you'd not have to worry about sinking in magma due to the densities, but magic and all that so I'll stop there

Itd be like floating in wet concrete, you sink until around your bellybutton. Assuming the lava is runny enough that is.
There are videos on youtube of people throwing raw chicken into a pool of lava and it makes a big splash, sinks inside and then explodes violently. There are also videos of people literally walking on the lava too. Its just a matter of how viscous and thick it is.

On another topic, it can be much worse than bubbles that are too big. 4koma authors looove using thin bubbles that are just wide enough to hold the vertical, 1 char wide, Kanji and kana. So they have more room for art in those 8 littlle boxes, I get it! But then in 2200 AD Cat Country I have to commit typesetting atrocities like this. Thanks for scanslating these, they're always fun!

In just one chapter Sidi proved herself to be a more useful companion than Garen. Went in no questions asked, did not overstep to danger, and quite literally saved their expedition.

It's not quite 4koma, but in magical doctor, I've to deal with batshit tons of the opposite of these big bubbles, long and narrow ones like you said. a lot of time i've to resort to hand lettering for that... i really really really really dislike the lettering process of scanlation.
