Garensis is a naive up start with a lot of heart, but no real experience. Over time he'll probably learn more about Nemu and Nemu will expound on her philosophy about what it means to be a corpse bearer and how to honor the dead, while he provides a little spark and flavor to her life.

It'll be interesting to see whether or not Garensis will come to respect and adopt Nemu's outlook or reject it and discover a new outlook to contrast it.

Also they decided to leave the husband's body behind with only the ring because that was all they could do to keep him and the bride together in anyway. If he had been brought back the rings would have been taken from his corpse and he wouldve been dumped in a shallow, unnamed grave befitting a "criminal". Bringing them back to the parents together was never an option.
Finally, I was thinking the same thing too. I don't understand why people are hating on the guy and assume he's going to change nemu's views or something, it's only the second chapter. I think it's more likely he'll come to understand corpse bearers more.

I have a lot of problems with this dude.
1. Continually imposes on her, while knowing her work is life-or-death, highlighting his nonflippant attitude of her boundaries
2. Disobeys orders to wait and becomes happy-go-lucky, highlighting his apparent nonchalance even in the place he’s injured himself and seen many corpses, displaying his disregard for his AND her safety.
3. Steals her food without waiting for a reply, after she saved his life from HIS fatal mistake
4. Continues to impose on her job with his personal interests
These incidents are not simply due to lack of experience. He is: Arrogant, self-centered, and careless of bringing himself or others into danger. He does not truly respect her profession or boundaries, as he steals her food and pushes himself onto her, and he is unable to critically evaluate the situation or respond effectively, even after making mistakes.

These are apart from the myriad of mistakes related to inexperience, like having obviously NO backup plan for if things went wrong in the dungeon, being improperly prepared, and getting lost. These are excusable because he’s new. But the four reasons listed above are inherent to his character, and are pretty bad.

Garen adds some nice touch to make Nemu shine as a patient and focused character.

However, he is very annoying for numerous reasons already stated in this thread to the point of being pathetic.

I would give him a pass if he actually was the little spunky youngster but he just looks like a very childish grown ass man whom just cannot take a hint.
