Money. He has repeatedly stated that he thinks he is entitled to some sort of "consideration", and will neither change his mind nor the subject.

and if he raises enough of a stink, however dumb his actual reasoning, he'll get some sort of payout as a "squeaky wheel gets the grease" sort of deal.

though I sorta imagine he'll play the "my ex gave the kids away without my consent!" line and then she'll counter with "you literally abandoned me and your children, kindly go fuck yourself" or however the polite version goes. She slapped the shit outta him in this very chapter, so I kinda hope she doesn't allow him to set the pace from this point.

This is confusing. Adoption isn’t a crime. Sure they are rich and every kid is adopted so what. Everything is legal. And even if the biological parents come out or work for family that doesn’t matter to the public cuz it doesn’t change anything really. Shoot my dad’s parents abandon all the kids, I don’t know how many siblings he has. My dad was raised by his sister and met my mom thru her. When he was dying those parents came to collect his insurance money. They had no care about a single mother and a child being left with nothing. I just don’t know how parents who abandon there kids have any rights.

To be clear I heard this story from my mom a year ago, I was 7 when he passed. This was in the early 90’s. We lost contact with the sister after moving from Japan since my mom couldn’t sustain financially for me and her alone. We have no contact with any of my dad’s family. Wouldn’t know how to reach anyone if I could.

Either way this is way too dramatic for the story and completely feels I don’t know unrealistic it doesn’t make sense at all. That’s just my opinion.
